FOUND IT!

here’s the special performance of Manchester Orchestra & friends - “Where Have You Been?” in Philly. it was pretty epic.

it’s fucking beautiful outside.

& I get to spend it shopping for music, stuffing my face with cheesesteaks, and rocking the eff out with Andy Hull.

PHILADELPHIA HERE I COME!

every time I’m in Philly, I pray to the gods of the PPA that I don’t get parking warred.

Philadelphia: Bars, Ben Franklin, Bests

now let’s return to happy stuff. I spent a short weekend in Philly with friends to finally get to see some of the touristy stuff I’ve missed out on for the past couple years. I’m going to sum up my trip here, but also watch out for a guide and blog post on Sosauce this week about my weekend adventures. thanks to Kate for letting us crash and tolerating my drunken state, you rule! Philly is one of my favorite cities and each time I’m there I’m reminded why. Here’s what I did in the City of Brotherly Love:

- drove thru rainstorm Saturday night

+ arrived around 10pm on South St to park and begin a night of mayhem

+ got Lorenzo’s pizza for pre-bar foodage

+ walked to Olde City to begin bar hopping

+ drinks, dancing, and sing-alongs @ National Mechanic, Plough the Stars, and another bar I don’t recall

+ met a Seth Meyers lookalike

+ ran thru streets of Philly after last call to find more open bars, to no avail

+ met a Rainn Wilson lookalike

+ met up with Kate and went to her place to spend the night

+ woke up for brunch, but talked for a while before we even left

+ brunch at the fabulous Pink Rose bakery… absofreakingdelicious

+ began our tourist walks thru Center City to Independence Hall

- saw the fake Ben Franklin’s house then walked forever to the shopping district

+ bought David Cross “I Drink for a Reason” book, siked!

- walked even more to finally reach City Hall

+ spent time exploring City Hall and the LOVE park which was awesome, finally

- took a bus to see the Liberty Bell, only to find out we had roughly 20mins to see all the historic stuff before it closed

+ did an express tour of the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and the Constitution Center

+ got ice cream at Franklin Fountain, old school ice cream parlor which was yummy

+ did apps at Beneluxx, beer & cheese tasting edition

+ night capped the weekend at Jim’s for the best chzsteaks ever

- caught symptons of the flu while driving 3hrs back home

- finally arrived home only to pass out from being sick soon after

all in all, an awesome weekend despite getting the flu
