shut UP! PETA

i’ve been catching up on my google reader all night and came across an article that really made me go STFU.

so there was a memorial service held for MJ a few days ago at the apollo theatre and all this great stuff was written on brooklyn vegan. but what got me in a rage was this:

"PETA US has written to Michael Jackson’s estate asking for the rights to the singer’s first solo hit, "Ben," which was written for the 1972 film of the same name. This beautiful song is about the friendship between a lonely boy and a rat named Ben, and we hope it can be used to raise awareness about the plight of rats and other animals tormented in laboratory experiments.” [PETA]

SHUT UPPPP PETA. LET IT GO. SRSLY! no. no one is going to think about tested rats when they hear “Ben” stop getting in everyone’s business and trying to force your beliefs on others. just please, sttooopppp. we’re talking about the death of the fucking KING OF POP. and u want his musical rights? GTFOOH. kind of selfish and the song was about a MOVIE, not RATS!

i’m sorry for anyone who’s a vegetarian or aligns themself with PETA but i just feel they’re so ridiculous sometimes, let the dream die.

i didn’t really have time to sink in the news that michael jackson died last night. i was too busy watching my sister graduate high school (a feat in itself, really) and with all the controversy about his personal life, i just shrugged it off. but when i got home and watched some coverage before i fell asleep it hit me that “holy crap, the king of pop is gone” and it was really super shocking. despite his troubles the man was a musical genius. and all these childhood memories came back to me, and i started to recall how much i loved him as a kid in the 80s and 90s. i seriously would dance in front of the tv and sing along to his music videos (more like mini movies) like “smooth criminal” and “remember the time.” i never owned any of his CDs til this past year when a joke on flight of the conchords made me go rush out and purchase “thriller” and “off the wall” so this morning on my train ride in i decided to listen to his music to show some respect and honor his name. listening to those albums reminded me how great his music is so i’d like to share with you my top 5 favorite michael jackson music videos. i hope you enjoy them as much as i do, and we all take a moment today to reflect on this tragedy.

Rest In Peace, Michael.
